Not Freedom FROM Religion
Our founding fathers placed as the First Amendment the freedom OF religion.
Today the press and some of the forces in our society seem to change the first amendment to read freedom FROM religion.
Should there be prayer at a graduation, the 10 commandments on a courtroom wall, a live nativity scene in the public square, Vacation Bible Schools? Many would say no, there needs to be a wall of separation to keep religion out of public places
What if we tried that same interpretation to other freedoms.
We are guaranteed Freedom of the press. What if we insisted on Freedom FROM the Press. By this faulty logic there should be no newspapers, radio, or TV, because it might offend someone who did not like the news.
Freedom FROM speech. No one would be allowed to speak because it would offend someone.
Freedom of religion is the basis for all other freedoms. We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are CREATED EQUAL AND ENDOWED BY THEIR CREATOR WITH CERTAIN INALIENABLE RIGHTS.
